Lead - Network Engineer

Team Leadership and Management:


Lead and mentor the L2 network support team, ensuring that they adhere to operational standards, follow best practices, and deliver timely solutions to network issues.


Provide guidance and training to team members on advanced troubleshooting techniques, network architecture, and technologies.


Assign tasks and responsibilities to L2 engineers and monitor their progress.


Conduct performance reviews and identify opportunities for skills development within the team.


Network Troubleshooting and Issue Resolution:


Serve as the primary point of escalation for complex network issues that cannot be resolved by L2 engineers.


Troubleshoot and resolve advanced network problems related to LAN, WAN, VPN, firewalls, routers, switches, and other critical network infrastructure components.


Work closely with L3 teams for complex network configurations and escalations.


Network Design and Implementation:


Assist in the design, configuration, and implementation of network infrastructure upgrades or expansions.


Collaborate with senior engineers to develop network plans, including hardware selection, network topology, and capacity planning.


Ensure the implementation of network changes follows best practices and minimizes network downtime.


Performance Monitoring and Optimization:


Oversee the monitoring of network performance using tools like SolarWinds, Nagios, or PRTG.


Analyze performance metrics and identify areas for optimization.


Implement performance improvements, including load balancing, route optimization, and network segmentation.


Network Security Oversight:


Ensure that network security protocols are followed and assist with configuring firewalls, VPNs, ACLs, and other security measures.


Monitor the network for security threats and coordinate with security teams to mitigate risks.


Assist in incident response and post-mortem analysis for security incidents.


Documentation and Reporting:


Maintain comprehensive and up-to-date documentation on network configurations, diagrams, IP addressing schemes, and troubleshooting processes.
